Billy Joel will perform at the Stone Music Festival in Sydney, Australia next month. The performance might be one Joel's last ever.
The 63-year-old musician is considering retiring from touring. He tells News.com.au that the festival date is a test:
"I want to see if it's time for me to get off the stage. There's a time when an athlete says I can't swing the bat anymore. So I get to feel it out ... this will be a big test for me."
Joel is wary of becoming an "oldie" who "is trading on their glory days." The piano man doesn't mention any artist specifically, other than the fictional band Spinal Tap. But, Bruce Springsteen, who is the same age as Joel, still tours consistently. The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will both turn 70 this year.
Billy Joel made headlines earlier this year when he performed with a plucky college student.
