Peter Banks the original guitarist for Yes, passed away at the age of 65.  The Yes Facebook page shared this:

"We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of fellow bandmate and founding Yes member, Peter Banks. He was a huge piece of the fabric that made Yes what it is, and our thoughts, sincere condolences, and prayers are with him and his family. Peter, we shall miss you greatly."

Banks was with the band in the beginning.  He actually came up with the name "Yes" (which was never meant to be permanent).

Yes' first two albums featured Banks on guitar.  Disagreements over the band's second album, Time and a Word, led to Banks' dismissal from the band before the release of the album.

Banks then formed Flash and released a trio of albums in the 1970s.  Later Banks formed another band, Empire, and released several solo albums.
