A movie on the life of Gregg Allman is in the works.  The Allman Brothers Band leader sold the film rights to his memoir My Cross to Bear, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Filmmakers Randall Miller and Jody Savin will write the screenplay.  Miller will be the director.  The duo is expected to release a movie called CBGB based on the famous New York night club.

It is unclear which parts of Allman's life will be covered in the film.  In addition to life as a famous musician, Allman has endured tragedy and turmoil in his personal life.

His brother and bandmate, Duane Allman, died in a motorcycle accident in 1971 and another bandmate, bassist Berry Oakley, died in another motorcycle accident one year later.  Two former girlfrends of Gregg Allman committed suicide after Allman broke up with them and Gregg's been married six times (including once to Cher).
