The Seattle rockers last studio album was 2009's Backspacer. McCready says the new album will be more than a simple followup to that record:
"I would say as a cliché answer it's kind of a logical extension of what Backspacer was. But I think there's a little bit more experimental stuff going on. There's a Pink Floyd vibe to some of it, there's a punk rock edge to other stuff."
Over the past several months, members of Pearl Jam have said that the band is about halfway through finishing the album. McCready says that's true, but believes they will finish it up in time to release it by the end of 2013.
