Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith is joining jazz guitarist and former New York Yankee Bernie Williams in Washington D.C. to demand for more music education in schools.  The duo is speaking on behalf of the National Association of Music Merchants.  Smith tells Rolling Stone:

"Right now, [music education] is in jeopardy, and they have the power to change it and do something good here for everybody and every kid.  If I didn't have music education in school, I probably would have ended up in jail or dead. And instead I ended up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

Music programs are often first on the chopping block when the time comes for education cuts.  With the current "Sequester" cuts, music and arts programs will likely be in trouble.
