Normally, when a band with a new album appears on national television, they play something from the new record. But, when The Avett Brothers appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night, the host had a special request. The show is spending the week in New York and Kimmel told the crowd, "I asked them to do it for reasons you will soon understand." Joined by the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the band played I And Love And You.
Fans of the band know the line in the chorus of the song. "Brooklyn, Brooklyn, take me in." When the brothers sang that line, they blew the roof off of the place.
Of course, The Avett Brothers did appear on the same show back in September. They played a song from their new album The Carpenter during that appearance.
