When Black Sabbath reunited for their new album, 13, original drummer Bill Ward was not involved. Rage Against The Machine's Brad Wilk filled in and many assumed it was due to a contractal issue.
But, Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne says Ward would not have been able to do the album. He tells the New York Daily News, “I don’t think he could have done the gig, to be honest. He’s incredibly overweight. A drummer has to be in shape. He’s already had two heart attacks. I don’t want to be responsible for his life."
Osbourne does say that he is open to Ward's return.
13 released in June. It was the first Black Sabbath album to feature Ozzy Osbourne since 1978's Never Say Die and it was also the first Black Sabbath album to hit number one.
