Selena Gomez Makes Her Live TV Performance Comeback At 2019 AMAs

It's been over two years since Selena Gomez performed at an award show, but all that changed on Sunday (November 24) when the pop titan made her big comeback at the 2019 American Music Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where she performed a medley of her two new singles, "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now."

Returning to the AMA stage after her 2017 set for "Wolves," Gomez, 27, kicked off the show to deliver an emotionally charged medley of the singles, beginning things with the chart-topping ballad. "We'd always go into it blindly/ I needed to lose you to find me/ This dancing was killing me softly/ I needed to hate you to love me," she crooned during the ballad in a lengthy black dress, before venturing onto the hook. To round out the number, the pop titan transitioned into the ballad's follow-up release in a sparkling bodysuit in front of a colorful set with backup dancers. Marching through her dancers, Gomez worked in some choreography, but the real essence of the performance fell on the track's lyrical meaning.

Gomez's performance at the award show is her latest stop in promotion for new music, which will culminate in the release of her sophomore effort, which is tentatively titled SG2 and scheduled to drop on January 10, 2020. Just last week, she updated her official website with the big news, revealing that the standard edition of the LP will contain 13 tracks, while the deluxe edition of the project will feature 18 tracks. The collection is currently available for pre-order.

Gomez spoke about the follow-up to 2015's Revival in our recent interview with the chart-topper. "I sound like such a nerd, but I cannot wait for this to come out," she gushed of the project. "It has taken a few years, and things that started in the beginning are solid and still a part of my record, and then some just came naturally and just ... it was so easy. I mean, I shouldn't say that. I was actually kind of a nightmare, but it was very easy to me when I sat down with the records and said, 'This is exactly how it's supposed to sound.'"
