North Carolina Reports Single-Day Record for New COVID-19 Cases

North Carolina state health officials reported the highest single-day record for new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, October 15th.

NC Governor Roy Cooper held a press conference highlighting the concerns in the increase in cases.

"Recently, like much of the country and other parts of the world, we’ve seen higher numbers," Cooper said. "It will be important to continue watching these numbers over a 14-day period. But one thing is clear – we must be even more vigilant in our effort to prevent the spread of this virus."

The Department of Health and Human Services reported 2,532 new cases on Thursday. North Carolina's total number has reached 238,939. Hospitalizations are also on the rise with 1,140 people hospitalized statewide.
