Forecast highlights:
- Hurricane Michael moved inland Wednesday at the Florida Panhandle, leading to scattered showers and downpours throughout the day in Charlotte.
- Highs Wednesday afternoon have topped off near 77 degrees.
- Michael made landfall in Florida as a Category 4 storm with more than 145 mph winds.
The storm will remain as a hurricane all the way into Georgia before weakening into a tropical storm when it moves into the Carolinas.
It will remain a strong tropical storm as it passes south and east of Charlotte.
The biggest impact from Michael is set to occur Thursday morning as heavy rain and strong wind will pick up shortly after sunrise tomorrow and continue through the early afternoon.
It will slowly come to an end by early afternoon.
Several inches of rain are possible from in the Charlotte area from Michael but will be significantly less than what the Queen City saw from Florence.
The impacts in Charlotte will be 30-40 mph winds with 3-5 inches of rain.
Isolated tornadoes are possible, especially south and east of Charlotte.
- A fall-like system will push the storm away from us rather quickly, and then bring much more seasonable weather for the weekend, with highs in the 70s.
