CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is one of the most expensive airports in the U.S. when buying a plane ticket.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics looked at round-trip ticket costs, including taxes and fees.
It found the average ticket during the third quarter of 2018 in Charlotte cost $418.

However, Spirit Airlines will begin offering flights out of Charlotte.
The low-cost airline will add daily direct-service flights -- starting June 20 -- to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Newark and Baltimore.
