Mecklenburg County Offices to Remain Closed on Monday

Charlotte, NC– Mecklenburg County Manager Dena R. Diorio announced today that County offices will remain closed Monday as the effects of Hurricane Florence continue to move through the area.

“The weather forecast continues to indicate that conditions across the County will deteriorate over the weekend and become very dangerous. We want our employees to remain safe,” Diorio says. “As always, County programs that provide critical services to the public 24/7 will continue.”

County representatives from Public Health, Department of Social Services, Park and Recreation, Community Support Services, Public Information, Storm Water Services, and the County Manager’s Office continue to support shelter operations. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office has activated the joint Emergency Operations Center and is coordinating the region’s emergency response.

County offices will close at noon Friday ahead the storm. Nonessential weekend programs and services in Park and Recreation, Community Support Services, Land Use and Environmental Services Agency, and Public Health have also been canceled.
