102.9 The Lake and Make A Wish of Central and Western Carolina have teamed up for “A Summer Of Wishes FUNdraising Challenge” and we need YOUR help! This summer, bring hope to waiting wish kids and celebrate the impact of wishes that our local community have helped grant.
Meet 102.9 The Lake Wish Kid, Sophia! Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo! Wish Kid Sophia’s wish to go to Disney World was granted! Sophia is a kind, energetic five -year -old from Davidson who has an immunodeficiency disorder. In her free time, Sophia loves to play basketball, hide-and seek , and Candyland, watch the Incredibles, and snack on chocolate, Goldfish, or Chick -Fil -A. She also adores everything Princesses ! Due to Sophia’s immunodeficiency disorder, she will be receiving life -long treatment to ensure that she can be the healthy and happy person she is meant to be. However, this means lots of visits to different doctors and hospitals for her medical treatments. Obviously, Sophia and her family had earned a much -deserved break! When asked about her wish, Sophia knew exactly what she wanted to do—Go to Walt Disney World, so she could not only meet all of her favorite princesses – but be the princess she truly is! Sophia was also able to explore the Universal and SeaWorld parks, making for an extra fun -filled trip. Sophia loved her wish trip! Looking at long days of hospitals and doctors’ visits and more treatment in the future, Sophia was able to just be a kid again. Wishes are an essential part of a child’s treatment and recovery process, bringing hope and joy back into children’s lives. This summer wishes need you!
