Burgers are a popular menu item and a crowd favorite for a reason, and fortunately you can find a delicious and memorable bite from the most secretive hidden gems and beloved mom-and-pop shops to popular joints that draw in all the tourists and longtime eateries that have become a staple of their community.

According to a list compiled by Reader's Digest, the "best burger" in all of North Carolina can be found at Brooks' Sandwich House in Charlotte, which has been a staple of the community since opening in the '70s. Brooks' Sandwich House, which has a 4.7 star rating on Google and more than 1,800 reviews, is located at 2710 N. Brevard Street.

Here's what the site had to say about the burgers served at this popular spot:

"Don't let the name fool you. Brooks' Sandwich House in Charlotte serves up more than sandwiches, though you will find them on the menu. The cash-only spot has been open since 1973, and it knows how to treat your taste buds, so order as recommended: 'all the way.' That means topped with mustard, onions, and a helping of smoky beef chili. But don't make a weekend trip out of it, as the place is open only Monday through Friday.
