What makes a place special? The "it" factor that sets it apart from all others and makes it a spot that you would want to settle down and make a home for yourself. Entertainment venues, a wide array of restaurants, affordable prices, job opportunities — whatever "it" may be depends on each person, but one county in North Carolina was named as the best place to live in the entire state.

According to a list compiled by 24/7 Wall St., the "best county" to live in in North Carolina is Orange County, which has a median household income of $79,205 (compared to the $60,516 state average) and a life expectancy of 82.1 years, and a poverty rate of 12.6%.

Here's what the site had to say about the best county in North Carolina to call home:

"Orange County ranks as the best county to live in in North Carolina. The area, home to Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina, is part of the state's so-called Research Triangle, known for its concentration of tech companies and skilled labor force. In the county, 61.3% of adults have a Bachelor's degree, the largest share of the 100 counties in the state, and the typical household earns nearly $20,000 more than is typical in North Carolina. Orange County also has a healthy population. Life expectancy at birth is about four years longer than it is across the state."
